The 3501 Gear Fast Online Measuring Machine, a joint development between Beijing University of Technology and Haliang Group, has recently been launched. According to Professor Shi Zhaoyao from Beijing University of Technology, who was involved in the project, gear quality plays a critical role in determining the performance of the entire machine. Therefore, every finished gear must be inspected according to the rigorous quality standards set by the U.S. automotive gear industry. In fact, most U.S. vehicle gear manufacturers already use fast online measuring machines. With the rapid growth of China's automotive and related industries, the output value of the Chinese gear sector reached nearly 60 billion yuan in 2005. To enhance product quality and production efficiency, there is an urgent need for on-site inspection solutions for high-volume gear production.
However, on-site gear detection involves numerous challenges, including speed, environmental conditions, and precision—making it a complex technical issue. The 3501 machine addresses these challenges by employing a multi-dimensional measurement principle based on double-sided gear meshing. It builds upon the advantages of traditional double-flank measurement while enabling quick acquisition of tooth-to-tooth error data.
