Heavy truck can not be lightly hidden in the end how much is still difficult to say

In a recent report titled *"Study on Batch Failure of China National Heavy Duty Truck Engines,"* a southern media outlet revealed a serious issue involving the heavy-duty engine links of China National Heavy Duty Truck Co., Ltd. (CNHTC). The report highlighted that several trucks from the company have experienced mass failures, with connecting rods in the engines breaking and causing severe damage to critical components such as the crankshaft and engine block. This has raised concerns about the safety and reliability of CNHTC’s vehicles. Following the incident, CNHTC held a press conference on July 20, where it claimed the problem was not a "batch failure" but rather a "process change." The company accused the media of "seriously misrepresenting" the situation. Meanwhile, some domestic investment firms, including CITIC Securities and Everbright Securities, downplayed the issue, stating that "small faults do not affect major developments," and maintained their positive outlook on CNHTC's stock. However, the public remains skeptical. While CNHTC claims only a small number of connecting rods were affected, questions remain about the timeline and scale of the issue. Some vehicles with broken connecting rods had factory dates prior to the reported process change, suggesting the problem may be more widespread than admitted. Experts also point out that defects in connecting rods typically take time to manifest, and it is unlikely they would be detected within just a few days of a process adjustment. The controversy centers around a shift from the "tapping" process used by Steyr engines to the "squeeze" process adopted from Weichai Power. According to CNHTC’s General Manager Cai Dong, the company reverted to the tapping method after identifying issues during the transition. Yet, the lack of transparency regarding how many defective parts were produced and assembled into vehicles raises further doubts. Industry insiders suggest that CNHTC should consider a recall and involve an independent quality inspection agency to address public concerns. Transparency and accountability are essential for maintaining consumer trust, especially given the potential dangers of engine failure—particularly in high-speed or mountainous driving conditions. While CNHTC claims the defect rate is extremely low, users remain worried. One truck driver from Henan described the situation as a "time bomb" for long-haul drivers, emphasizing the risks involved. As the company continues to navigate this crisis, its response will play a crucial role in shaping its future reputation and market position. Recently, Futian Auman, a competitor, announced a bold commitment: free car replacement and a 10,000 yuan compensation if an engine's connecting rod breaks. This sets a high standard for industry responsibility, and whether CNHTC can match this level of confidence remains to be seen.
