Chicago Fire Department history, 5-11 Alarm fire 11-14-03

This is from Steve Redick:

Recently, I came across an audio tape of the radio traffic from a fire incident at 19th & Peoria. It was recorded from a fire alarm office, and I've included a link to the images from that day. It's fascinating to look back and see how much my tools and techniques have improved since then. From what I remember, TL39 lost power while the basket was in a dangerous position, and I have photos of firefighters stretching an exposure line to secure the basket and ladder. I recall seeing the intense flames from the elevated part of the Dan Ryan while en route, with heavy fire coming from a whole block. It was quite a sight. Despite the massive fire, there weren’t many great images available. Enjoy the history.
