Anqing's first export ship launched
On July 12, Anqing City celebrated the launch of its first 300-foot export ship at the Machinery Manufacturing Industrial Park in Shuyang County. The vessel, a deck barge, was constructed by Zhouyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a Singapore-based company that has successfully passed the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) inspection. With a full tonnage capacity of 8,000 tons, the ship is expected to play a significant role in boosting local exports.
Zhouyang Shipbuilding, which traces its origins back to the Shuyang County Shipyard, was acquired by Singapore Ocean Company in May of last year. The acquisition involved a total investment of $1.25 million, marking a major step in the company's expansion and modernization. Since the takeover, the firm has focused on improving its production standards and expanding its reach into global markets.
Most of the company’s products are now exported internationally, with a strong presence in Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America. The successful launch of this new ship not only highlights the growth of the local shipbuilding industry but also signals increased confidence in the region’s manufacturing capabilities. This development is expected to create more job opportunities and further strengthen Anqing’s position as a key player in the maritime sector.
