House fire in Buffalo Grove, 1-5-21
On Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2021, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and Police Department responded to a house fire at 134 Golfview Terrace. The call came in around midday, and first responders on the scene reported visible flames through the roof of the residence. Based on the initial assessment, Buffalo Grove Battalion 4 escalated the alarm to a Code 4 working fire. The smoke and flames were so intense that they were visible from over a mile away.
Tower Ladder 25 was the first fire company to arrive, followed by Arlington Heights Engine 4. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line to the rear of the structure, effectively controlling the exterior flames. A second line was then taken inside to tackle the fire from within. As more units arrived, two additional hand lines were brought into action, and the remaining fire was fully extinguished.
A video footage of the incident shows the intensity of the blaze, with thick smoke and towering flames engulfing the home. Photos captured by local photographer Larry Shapiro show the dramatic scene, including the Ferrara Inferno tower ladder positioned at the location.
The response included multiple units from Buffalo Grove, such as Tower 25, Engine 27, Ambulance 25, Battalion 4, 408, 401, MobileCom, and Squad 25. Additional crews from surrounding areas also joined the effort, including Arlington Heights Engine 4 and Battalion 1, Rolling Meadows Quint 15, Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55, a Barrington ambulance and chief, Libertyville Squad 462, and ambulances from Lake Forest and Nunda Rural FPD.
Emergency services worked swiftly to contain the fire, ensuring the safety of nearby residents and preventing the spread of the flames. No injuries have been reported at this time.
