China's first scanning tunneling microscope into the National Museum of Tibet

[ Instrument Network Instrument Development ] Recently, the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences donated the first scanning tunneling microscope CSTM-9000 equipment independently developed by China National Museum. The Tibetan ceremony was held at the National Museum of China on the 14th.
The CSTM-9000 equipment was successfully developed by the current Chinese Academy of Sciences Dean and Party Secretary Bai Chunli in just over four months with the team members. The first computer-controlled digital scanning tunneling microscope with data analysis and image processing system was successfully developed.
The instrument consists of a scanning tunneling microscope probe, a damping system, an electronic control cabinet and a computer system with a lateral resolution of 0.1 nm and a vertical resolution of 0.01 nm. The instrument reached the international advanced level at that time, with reasonable structure, stable performance, wide measuring range, high degree of automation, rich computer software, data acquisition, storage, analysis, real-time image display, etc., which is very suitable for some dynamic process surfaces. Research on structural changes. In addition to the study of local fine structures, a wide range of topography studies can be performed. This set of scanning tunneling microscope equipment is low in cost and hundreds of thousands of yuan cheaper than similar foreign products.
The CSTM-9000 was successfully developed and won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 1990. It enabled China to enter the world's advanced level in the field of exploring the interface of material forms, and also explored and promoted the research and development of many subject areas, especially nanotechnology.
The National Museum is a historical monument of a country, focusing on the preservation and spiritual inheritance of cultural relics. The "Scanning Tunneling Microscope CSTM-9000" can be used to preserve the real thing that reflects the development of contemporary science and technology. At the same time, it also reflects the spirit of arrogance and hard work of a group of scientists represented by Academician Bai Chunli, which is worth remembering.
