Chicago Still Alarm fire 8-24-13

This report comes from San Shevlin:

On August 24, 2013, around 6:15 AM, a fire was reported on the 5300 block of South Shields. A visible smoke was seen coming from a one-and-a-half-story frame building, facing northbound. The fire was inside the walls and had started spreading into the attic. When I arrived, there was only one line being used, and the roof had already been opened. By the time I got there, the fire was under control and completely out.
Companies involved: 84, 50, 361, 328, 247, 555, 273 – Rescue 3210, 249.

The scene looked intense, with thick smoke pouring from the upper levels. Firefighters were working quickly to contain the blaze before it could spread further. It's always sobering to see how fast a fire can take hold in a residential area. These photos give a real sense of what the crew faced that morning. It’s clear they did their job well—keeping the fire under control and preventing it from getting worse. Looking at these images, you can see the effort and dedication it takes to respond to such incidents. Thanks to Dan Shevlin for sharing this important documentation.
