Buffalo Grove house fire 2-25-11

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department (BGFD) responded to an urgent call just before 2 PM from a concerned homeowner who had returned to find thick smoke billowing throughout their residence. Within moments, the deputy chief arrived on the scene and observed signs of smoke before escalating the alarm to a Code 4. Shortly thereafter, BGFD Engine 26 and Battalion 4 arrived, swiftly initiating an interior firefighting operation. It was soon determined that the fire likely began in a bedroom on the second floor at the rear of the house, spreading rapidly to the attic and adjacent rooms. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it could extend further downstairs, though significant damage was already evident. Mutual aid support was provided by neighboring departments including Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Arlington Heights, Palatine, and the Buffalo Grove Emergency Management Agency (EMA). Larry Shapiro, who happened to be nearby, captured several compelling photos and a video from the scene. You can view his full gallery HERE.
