Working fire in Chicago, 11-19-16

I just got this update from Eric Haak about an incident that happened early Saturday morning: --- It was around sunrise when the Chicago Fire Department got a call about a house fire. The Englewood Fire Alarm Office initially received reports from two different addresses. When the first engine arrived at the first location, there wasn’t any visible sign of fire. However, moments later, the alarm office started receiving calls pointing to 74th Street. That’s when Engine 54 found the actual site of the fire. Fortunately, the house was occupied, but no one was home at the time it broke out. Attached are some photos taken by Eric Haak. In the first image, you can see thick smoke billowing from the house. The second photo captures firefighters preparing to enter the burning building. Another shot shows firefighters working on ventilating the roof—a critical step to control the fire. One particularly striking image shows firefighters almost completely enveloped in smoke while perched on the roof. There’s also a picture of flames bursting through the roof with firefighters actively engaged nearby. Finally, there's a close-up of a Chicago Fire Department company decal, likely from one of the vehicles involved. These images really capture the intensity and teamwork involved during such emergencies. It’s always a reminder of how brave these firefighters are as they put their lives on the line to protect others. --- I’ll keep an eye out for any further updates or details. Let me know if you need anything else!
