Service Robots - Significant advances have been made in the area of automatic inspection technology

Recently, learned from the Robotics Research Center of China University of Science and Technology, the robotics team at the university has made important progress in the automatic detection technology and cost reduction of intelligent service robots.

According to Professor Chen Xiaoping from Computer Science Institute of China University of Science and Technology, the traditional performance testing of service robots has been stuck in the subjective observation and qualitative evaluation stage. Both at home and abroad are in a vacancy in automatic detection technology, technology and equipment. For example, after modifying a technical aspect, what are the specific performance changes of service robots, which can only be based on the subjective observation of a researcher or the qualitative test (for example, grasping a cup and observing the success), which is too coarse The practice is far less than the performance required for research testing requirements. "From an industrial point of view, there is no guarantee of product quality inspection, which is one of the deadliest bottlenecks in the industrialized production of robots," said Chen Xiaoping.

To this end, CUHK and the United States Carnegie Mellon University, the National University of Singapore and other domestic and foreign universities, in collaboration with the EU's No. 7 framework project, took the lead in carrying out the service robot automatic detection technology research, service robot performance index system, Performance factors and combination models, data acquisition and analysis tools, parameter identification and model reconstruction technology and other basic issues were explored in depth. On this basis, they introduced the world's leading sports tracking equipment, independent research and development service robotic performance testing system, and completed the first batch of experimental tests.

"The high cost is another important bottleneck in the industrialization of robots at present." Chen Xiaoping said that for this purpose, UCK has started the project of "a good low-cost mobile platform", based on which the main components of the robot can be optimized Domestic transformation, the underlying control and perception system has been optimized and upgraded. At present, we have completed the research and development of two principle prototypes of "Best Universal Mobile Platform" and conducted the performance testing and evaluation by using the service robot automatic detection system.
