The first domestic Euro IV diesel engine was introduced in Yuchai, Guangxi

At the "Yuche 2006 Strategy Release and Marketing Service Conference" held on February 26, 2005, Yuchai made a significant breakthrough by launching China's first domestically developed Euro IV diesel engine, the YC6L-40. This milestone was officially presented to the Beijing Public Transport Corporation, marking a new chapter in Yuchai’s journey toward "green power" and setting a strong foundation for the development of the Chinese automotive industry. During the event, several key figures attended, including Zhang Xiaoyu, Vice President of the China Machinery Industry Federation; Kaohsiung, Secretary of the Yulin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China; Jin Xiangjun, Mayor of Yulin; Feng Hsien, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Public Transport Corporation; Yang Baode, Secretary General of the China Construction Machinery Association; and Yu Ping, Chairman of Yuchai. Together, they unveiled the YC6L-40, the first Euro IV diesel engine with independent intellectual property rights in China. Yu Ping personally handed over the Euro IV engine certificate to Feng Hsien, signifying that this advanced engine would now be deployed in Beijing’s public transportation system. This move not only highlights Yuchai’s technological leadership but also demonstrates its commitment to supporting Beijing’s efforts to meet the environmental standards set for the 2008 Olympic Games. Feng Hsien expressed deep appreciation for Yuchai’s contribution, emphasizing that the Euro IV standard represents the strictest emission requirements for diesel engines. By adopting this technology, Beijing aims to enhance its environmental protection initiatives and promote a cleaner, greener image. As the only company in China capable of producing Euro IV diesel engines, Yuchai has played a crucial role in advancing the city’s "Green Bus" program. Dr. Li Qin, Senior Technical Consultant at Yuchai, explained the performance and adaptability of the Euro IV engine. The YC6L-40 utilizes electronic fuel injection and post-treatment technologies, ensuring compliance with Euro IV standards while delivering excellent dynamic performance, fuel efficiency, high power output, low emissions, and reduced noise levels. These features make it ideal for use in luxury buses and urban transit vehicles. Yu Ping, Chairman of Yuchai, highlighted the growing global focus on energy conservation and environmental protection, especially as oil prices rose and environmental concerns became more pressing. With the upcoming 2008 Beijing Green Olympics, the Chinese government and society have placed even greater emphasis on sustainable development. Yuchai, driven by both social responsibility and industry opportunities, is committed to advancing "green power." In 2006, Yuchai introduced the YC6L series engine to the domestic market, signaling its proactive approach to the emerging "green power" sector. Zhang Xiaoyu, Vice Chairman of the China Machinery Industry Federation, commended Yuchai’s contributions to the internal combustion engine industry and encouraged the company to continue driving innovation and progress for the national industry. Currently, Yuchai has successfully developed nine series of European-standard engines, including the Euro III-compliant 6A and 6L models, as well as compact 4W car engines. This achievement marks Yuchai’s growing presence in the competitive diesel passenger vehicle market and underscores the transformation of "green power" into a new era for the Chinese auto engine industry.
