The first domestic Euro IV diesel engine was introduced in Yuchai, Guangxi

At the "Yuche 2006 Strategy Release and Marketing Service Conference" held on February 26, 2005, Yuchai made a significant announcement by launching its first domestically developed Euro IV diesel engine, the YC6L-40, which was then presented to Beijing Public Transport Corporation. This milestone marked Yuchai's commitment to "green power" and signified a new chapter for China’s automotive industry in terms of environmental responsibility and technological advancement. The event brought together several key figures, including Zhang Xiaoyu, vice president of the China Machinery Industry Federation; Kaohsiung, secretary of the Yulin Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China; Jin Xiangjun, mayor of Yulin; Feng Hsien, deputy general manager of Beijing Public Transport Corporation; Yang Baode, secretary general of the China Construction Machinery Association; and Yu Ping, chairman of Yuchai. Together, they unveiled the first domestic Euro IV diesel engine, the YC6L-40, showcasing Yuchai's growing influence in the green technology sector. Feng Hsien, deputy general manager of Beijing Public Transport Corporation, expressed deep appreciation for Yuchai's contribution. He emphasized that with the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics, the city was accelerating efforts to build a "green bus" system. The Euro IV emission standard is among the strictest for diesel engines, and adopting this technology would significantly improve Beijing’s environmental quality and enhance the city's global image. As the only Chinese company capable of producing Euro IV engines at the time, Yuchai played a vital role in advancing the city’s sustainable transportation goals. Dr. Li Qin, a senior technical consultant at Yuchai, highlighted the performance and adaptability of the Euro IV engine. The YC6L-40 utilizes advanced electronic injection and post-treatment technologies, meeting Euro IV standards while offering excellent dynamic performance, fuel efficiency, high power output, low emissions, minimal noise, and strong reliability. These features make it ideal for use in luxury buses and urban transit systems. Yu Ping, chairman of Yuchai, noted that rising oil prices and increasing environmental concerns have made energy conservation and sustainability global priorities. With the approach of the 2008 Beijing Green Olympics, both the government and society placed greater emphasis on eco-friendly development. Yuchai saw this as an opportunity to fulfill its social responsibilities and lead the industry toward "green power." In 2006, Yuchai introduced the YC6L series engine to the domestic market, aiming to explore and expand the "green power" sector across various applications. Zhang Xiaoyu, vice chairman of the China Machinery Industry Federation, commended Yuchai’s contributions to the internal combustion engine industry and encouraged the company to continue driving innovation and progress for the national economy. Currently, Yuchai has developed nine series of European-standard engines, including Euro III-compliant models such as the 6A and 6L horizontal engines, as well as compact 4W car engines. This achievement marks Yuchai’s entry into the competitive diesel passenger vehicle market and highlights the growing importance of "green power" in China’s automobile industry.
