A visit to O’Hare Airport
This is from Mike Lopina:
While I was at O’Hare (ORD) for the annual ARFF and Haz-Mat training, I had the chance to capture some of the rigs in action between drills. 5-3-1 is a unit that carries a Zumro tent, HVAC equipment for the Zumro, and some decontamination gear. It’s based out of ORD Rescue Station 1. 8-8-1A is currently stationed at the AMC building on the airport grounds. 6-5-7S (Spare), Engine 9, and the new 2-7-8 were at the training facility for Zumro tent setup exercises. 6-5-T is the training rig used for pit operations and is a 1988 Oshkosh T-3000 crash truck.
2-9-8 serves as the training officer for ORD, and 2-9-12 is the coordinator for the live fire simulators. Also attached are photos of Lockport Rescue 6 preparing to attack a fire in the Pit, and Orland Engine 8 (Reserve) operating handlines during the Pit and Wheel/Brake/Interior simulator exercises.
