Training for propane fires

Firefighters from several suburban departments in the north and northwest recently had a valuable opportunity to enhance their skills through specialized training on propane fires. These sessions not only improved their readiness but also provided great photo opportunities for local journalists and photographers.

Tim Olk was present at the training event held in Highland Park, where firefighters from Glencoe, Highland Park, Libertyville, and Lake Bluff came together to practice handling liquid propane fire scenarios. The hands-on experience allowed them to refine techniques for controlling dangerous gas-related incidents.

Larry Shapiro covered another session in Buffalo Grove, where firefighters from Wheeling, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Mundelein, and Libertyville joined forces for a live propane fire drill. The collaborative effort highlighted the importance of inter-departmental training and preparedness in high-risk situations.
