Sandvik Coromant Introduces New Grooved Turning Inserts

Sandvik Coromant has introduced a new trough LC to handle difficult carbon steel materials that are difficult to cut. It has been difficult to obtain satisfactory results by turning a low-carbon steel material with a conventional grooved blade. The main reason is that the chips are not discharged in time, causing entanglement and production is interrupted.

According to Sandvik Coromant, the newly designed trough shape has an efficient chip evacuation performance and reduces the risk of chip entanglement during cutting, making a major step toward trouble-free cutting of low carbon steel materials. As a result, the risk of tool damage due to undischarged chips is reduced, and productivity is also effectively improved. At the same time, since the discharged chips do not damage the parts, it helps to improve the surface quality of the parts. In addition, the use of the wiper blade can also improve the feed. This unique design enables the mass production of gearboxes in the automotive industry for optimum productivity.

The first blades with low carbon steel chipbreakers are available in three different materials for different steel cutting: GC4225, GC1525 and GC2025.
