Phone 1 minute full charge? Israel R & D lithium battery fast charge technology

January 9, according to foreign media reports, in less than a minute, the phone charge from 0% to 100% charge, is this possible? Israeli startup StoreDot has developed an instant charging technology that fully charges your phone in less than a minute.

But you need to install a special battery in the phone, you also need to drill a hole in the phone case, the copper plug is inserted into the hole directly connected to the battery, at the same time need to have a special 200-watt power charger. This kind of charging system can charge the mobile phone fast, its speed is 200 times of the current charging way.

StoreDot's lab is developing new molecules that can be specifically charged for lithium-ion batteries. Plus a custom charger, you can charge your phone for 6 minutes, 1 minute or even 30 seconds, depending on which charger model you are using.

StoreDot's most practical solution is its 50-amp charger, which charges the phone in 6 minutes. It is also known as a "20x" charger because it charges 20 times faster than existing charging technology. "20x" is the easiest way to charge your StoreDot because it has a pocket-sized wall charger, but charging your phone faster requires that it be directly connected to the battery and requires a large battery pack.

The "100x" charger requires that you increase the charger's power to 200W. But smart phone makers have to drill holes in the phone's backshell, which is very different from today's design standards. Imagine, however, plugging in your cellphone for half a minute to fully charge it, perhaps you may be willing to pay the aesthetic price.

Dorod Myersdorf, CEO of StoreDot, acknowledges that each solution has its own pitfalls and limitations. Even "20x" chargers require special plugs that look similar to older iPhone and iPod plugs. And now most of the industry use USB Type-C universal plugs, there is a compelling reason to get people to re-select special products.

The "100x" charger is bigger than the smartphone itself, and you can never put it in your handbag. StoreDot's solution will result in a $ 30 increase in the cost of each smartphone, and Myersdorf estimates that smartphones may cost as much as $ 60 for the device after vendors and smartphone makers raise fares. For many people, this can have a big impact, especially as smartphone prices are declining.

Myersdorf said StoreDot has received substantial funding from the smart phone company, about 66 million US dollars financing. StoreDot is currently developing cheaper charging solutions, but it will take a long time to succeed. It needs a variety of regulatory approvals, and R & D costs will continue to be high in the coming years. He also predicts that the first StoreDot battery will be available in 2017. But by 2018, when this technology is beginning to get adopted quickly, StoreDot's chargers will cost as much as today's batteries.
