Precision Model Resin

Precision Model Resin is the next generation of model resin, engineered to take full advantage of the Form 4B platform. It offers faster print speeds, greater accuracy, and improved aesthetics—making it ideal for restorative models that require both visual clarity and structural integrity.

This resin is perfect for:

Formlabs’ materials team has worked closely with dental professionals to address real-world challenges. One key improvement is the increased opacity of Precision Model Resin, which helps clearly define margin lines. Dr. Christopher Baer from Baer Dental says, “The color looks great—especially for crowns. The team at Formlabs really nailed it.”

Thanks to the Form 4B’s advanced hardware, prints are up to three times faster than previous formulations. At a 50 μm layer thickness, eight restorative models can be printed in just 90 minutes, with a cost per part ranging from $2 to $4.

Precise and Accurate

Using Precision Model Resin on the Form 4B, restorative models have 99.7% of their surface area within 100 μm of the CAD model, and 95% within 50 μm. This level of consistency across printers and batches ensures reliable, repeatable results for any dental practice.

Production-Optimized Workflow

Speed improvements aren’t just about print time—they also enhance post-processing, resulting in a faster overall workflow.

Scan and Design

Once the patient’s dentition is scanned and the model is designed in your dental CAD software, import the digital models into PreForm Dental as an STL or OBJ file.

In PreForm, orient parts directly on the build platform. For best results, manually orient and support the dies.

Once parts are oriented, upload the print and prepare the printer by inserting a resin tank, Precision Model Resin cartridge, and a clean build platform.

Post-Process

Remove parts from the build platform using a part removal tool if chamfer features were added, or flush cutters if not. Wash the parts in 99% IPA for five minutes, then cure them in the Form Cure for five minutes at 35°C or use Fast Cure for 30 seconds at Light Intensity 2 for optimal properties.
