Big fire in Naperville

The Naperville Fire Department responded to a **3-11 alarm fire** on Sunday that began inside a downtown restaurant. The incident took place at the Rosebud Restaurant, located at 48 W. Chicago Avenue, and quickly spread through the void spaces of the older building. The Daily Herald covered the event in an article, which you can read **HERE**. At the scene, all 10 Naperville fire companies were involved, with additional mutual aid arriving from neighboring departments. Among the units dispatched was **Truck 1**, one of the new twin Spartan/Crimson 103′ quints, which was initially positioned in front of the building. Later, it was repositioned down the street, where it was captured in a photo by Larry Shapiro. Firefighters faced significant challenges due to the complex structure of the building, including a tongue-and-groove ceiling that made detecting fire extension more difficult. Smoke was heavy at times, making visibility tough as crews worked to locate hidden flames within the walls and multiple roof levels. Mutual aid came from several areas, including Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Plainfield, Lisle-Woodridge, Darien Woodridge, Wheaton, Warrenville, Aurora, Glen Ellyn, Tristate, Lockport, North Aurora, and Westmont. Both of Naperville’s tower ladders were deployed, along with Squad 1, Engine 2, and two spare engines working to contain the blaze. A full gallery of photos from the incident is available **HERE**, offering a detailed look at the fire response and the efforts of the firefighters.
