3-Alarm fire in Ingleside, 1-1-18

On New Year’s Day, early in the morning, Fox Lake Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a severe house fire at 33817 North Christa Drive in Ingleside. The location, which lacks fire hydrants, required a third-alarm response due to the intensity and rapid spread of the flames. Local firefighters worked alongside crews from neighboring departments, including Greater Round Lake FPD, to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes. Despite their efforts, the structure was heavily damaged, and the home was ultimately destroyed. Firefighters spent several hours on the scene, working to extinguish the fire and secure the area. Emergency personnel were also seen transporting water via tanker trucks to support firefighting operations, as the lack of hydrants made it difficult to maintain a steady water supply. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but no injuries have been reported so far. Residents in the area were evacuated as a precaution, and local authorities are assisting with recovery efforts. The incident highlights the challenges faced by rural fire departments when responding to emergencies without access to municipal water systems. Photos from the scene show the extent of the damage, including firefighters working to overhaul the burned-out structure and a tanker truck transferring water into a portable tank. Several images also capture the charred remains of the home, emphasizing the severity of the fire.
