This is from Steve Redick: On Friday, May 18, 2018, a fire broke out in the 6600 block of N. Olmsted. The response was delayed due to an alley garage on the same property, which caused a significant hold-up for the RIT truck company. The fire had already gained a strong hold in the concealed spaces and knee wall areas, requiring extensive truck operations to bring under control. Late in the incident, some firefighters found themselves in a dangerous position on the roof when conditions changed rapidly, cutting off access to the aerial ladder. Fortunately, the fire was quickly knocked down by interior handlines, preventing further escalation. Despite challenging conditions—narrow streets, tree branches, and overhead wires—Truck 9 managed to set up its aerial. One of the final photos captured the gratitude of the rescued individuals.
