SAIC fully hands in Iveco

By the opportunity of the 10th Beijing Auto Show, Xiao Guopu, vice president of Shanghai Automotive, and Paul Monferino, president of Fiat Group Iveco, were closely holding hands and announced high-profile announcements of strategic cooperation between the two parties.

After the “Southern Cooperation”, SAIC Motor’s cooperation with Iveco through Nanjing Iveco’s cooperation further extended to light trucks and medium trucks to achieve full cooperation from the engine to light, medium and heavy trucks.

In order to expand the industrial chain, SAIC Motor has started a series of major joint venture cooperation with Iveco Co., Ltd., which has high-end mature product technology and a global marketing service network in the global commercial vehicle field since 2006. In December 2005, SAIC, Iveco, and Chongqing Zhongqi signed a cooperation framework agreement. In September 2006, SAIC and Iveco each invested 50% in the establishment of SAIC Iveco Commercial Vehicle Investment Co., Ltd.; SAIC Iveco launched a pair of heavy-duty trucks. In June 2007, SAIC Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. and SAIC Fiat Hongyan Engine Co., Ltd. were formally established. With the formal signing of the “Southern Cooperation” agreement, Nanjing Iveco has become a new starting point for cooperation between the two sides in the field of domestic light commercial vehicles.

The latest cooperation strategy announced by SAIC and Iveco yesterday indicated that SAIC Iveco Hongyan and Nanjing Iveco will fully utilize the product strategy of dual-brand differentiation positioning. While strengthening the introduction of IVECO brand products, we will combine localization with international technical quality and services. The cost strategy will quickly increase the competitiveness of the “Jinjin” medium-duty truck light truck and “Hongyan” heavy truck product series.

At the same time, Paul Monferlino stated that Iveco wants to use China's base as a global export platform, on the one hand, to introduce Iveco's advanced products to China, and on the other hand to use the cost advantages of Chinese bases in combination with Iveco's overseas marketing network to increase exports. At the same time, develop high-quality supplier bases in China. Paul Monfilino expects that the number of Iveco products exported from China each year will reach 70,000.

FAW Dongfeng staged a double male club

While SAIC was busy working with Iveco, the other two of the three major groups - FAW and Dongfeng Group - stood in the outdoor booth of commercial vehicles.

FAW's outdoor fair neatly placed six Liberated J6 heavy-duty trucks. This was an overall appearance after the Liberation J6 had the ability to put a batch in the market. The first of its kind is a high-end tractor with air suspension in Europe IV, including J6 heavy-duty truck model J6P 6X4 cement mixer and J6 quasi-heavy platform representative model -8X4, 6X2 truck chassis. Marking the liberation of the sixth-generation trucks has expanded from a single series of heavy-duty tractors to the production capabilities of a family-wide product line.

Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company exhibited 12 complete vehicles and 7 engines. In addition to Dongfeng Tianlong, Hercules, and Balong, the exhibitors also launched a new generation of medium and heavy trucks, Dongfeng Tianjin. This model is an upgraded product of Dongfeng Medium and Heavy Trucks. It not only fully complies with the National III emission standards, but also can be upgraded to the National IV standard.

According to reports, in 2007 Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company sold 188,000 vehicles, fulfilled 112% of the budget task, and continued to maintain the industry's position in the domestic medium and heavy truck market. Dongfeng Tianlong and Hercules sold more than 23,000 units, which created the first annual sales of the same kind of new products in the same industry in the country and established a new image of Dongfeng high-end heavy trucks. In respect of overseas development, in 2007 Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company successfully promoted the Dongfeng Tianlong series representing the company's new image to the international market. The number of exporting countries and regions has exceeded 40, initially forming large-scale markets such as Iran, Vietnam, Russia and Algeria. A number of strategic partners are forming.
