China Manufacturing Accelerates Reshaping New Advantages

A series of newly released data shows that China's manufacturing is quietly undergoing positive changes.

The China Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing industry in June was 50.0%, which was at the tipping point. This is the manufacturing PMI that jumped above the line of prosperity since March of this year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics Service Survey Center and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. Since it has been above the critical value for the fourth consecutive month or has been at the same level as the critical value, it indicates that the overall manufacturing industry is in a stable state of production. Particularly gratifying is the rapid growth of high-tech manufacturing and equipment manufacturing, with PMIs at 51.3% and 51.1%, respectively, which is higher than the overall average level of the manufacturing industry, and has accelerated since the second quarter.

Statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics show that from January to May, the added value of industries above designated size increased by 5.9% year-on-year, and the overall industry maintained steady growth. In the same way, the added value of high-tech manufacturing and equipment manufacturing continued to grow at a relatively fast pace, accounting for 12.1% and 32.5% of the industrial added value above designated size.

The overall stabilization and recovery, the further optimization of the structure, and the enhancement of high-end manufacturing leading role are the characteristics of China's manufacturing industry in the first half of the year, indicating that structural adjustment, power conversion, and transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industries are proceeding in an orderly manner.

There is no doubt that "Made in China" is one of the most recognized labels in the world. After more than 30 years of rapid development, China has become the largest "world factory". From garments, shoes and hats to electronic products, Chinese-made products are spread all over the world. Chinese manufacturing has also become an important force in promoting world economic development while supporting China’s economic and social development.

After the international financial crisis in 2008, developed countries began to re-examine the significance of the development of the real economy and implemented the "reindustrialization" strategy one after another. Some developing countries are also speeding up plans and arrangements, actively participating in the global industrial division of labor, and undertaking industrial and capital transfers. China's manufacturing industry is facing the severe challenge of “bi-directional squeeze” between developed countries and other developing countries: below the unit labor productivity of Europe and the United States and higher than the manufacturing cost of Southeast Asia, persuading “Made in China” must find new starting points as soon as possible. Reshaping new competitive advantages.

In May 2015, the State Council officially issued "Made in China 2025." As a guideline for guiding the construction of a powerful nation in the next 10 years and a programmatic document to achieve the goal of becoming a powerful nation in the next 30 years, "Made in China 2025" has fully started the transformation and upgrading of "Made in China" to "Created in China" and "China's Zhi Zhi". road.

In the new global industrial competition, what are the advantages of Chinese manufacturing? How to achieve the upgrade road made in China?

The world's largest manufacturing industry, complete categories, independent and complete industrial systems, strong comprehensive supporting capabilities, hundreds of millions of high-quality manufacturing forces, manned space, supercomputers, high-speed rail equipment, and other competitive industries with international competitiveness And key enterprises, and the world’s largest consumer market of 1.3 billion people, these are still irreplaceable advantages and status of China’s manufacturing in the global industrial chain. They are the driving force for sustained development of China’s manufacturing and the foundation and conditions for building a manufacturing power.

In the long run, the advantages of China's manufacturing should not be reflected in low labor costs, but should be to give full play to comprehensive advantages and actively promote technological innovation, business model innovation, to achieve both quality improvement and cost advantages. From labor-intensive to low-end processing to mid-to high-end output, today's “Made in China” is no longer a low value-added product with low added value and rough processing, but is a cost-effective product with independent property rights and fine manufacturing. Industry and technology-intensive industries are becoming the main link for China's manufacturing to participate in global competition. This is exactly what China has made in recent years and it is also the way out for future Chinese manufacturing.

On the other hand, the deep integration of a new generation of information technology and manufacturing is bringing about far-reaching industrial changes and the formation of new production methods, industrial forms, business models, and economic growth points. This has ushered in a major opportunity for China's manufacturing industry to undergo transformation, upgrading and innovation.

As a result, China's manufacturing cannot be constrained by "greatness", nor can it be complacent under pressure. It must comprehensively, objectively, and soberly understand the strengths and weaknesses of China's manufacturing, as well as the internal and external environment it faces, and step up its strategic deployment. , To seize a new round of competition in the manufacturing industry, accelerating the promotion of the transformation of Chinese manufacturing to China, the transformation of China's speed to China's quality, and the transformation of Chinese products into Chinese brands.

It is gratifying that Chinese manufacturing is already in action, relying on innovation to drive the overall improvement of development quality and core competitiveness, and relying on the “Internet+” to promote smart manufacturing has become a common consensus. Under the guidance of the "Made in China 2025" strategy, a series of related policies and measures were intensively introduced. The support was strong, the direction of guidance was clear, and the specific tasks were unprecedented. The atmosphere in which the whole society is concentrating and cooperating to jointly accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry has already formed.

According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, from the second half of 2015, the use of new equipment and new technologies such as industrial robots and 3D printers was significantly accelerated in the core areas of China's manufacturing industry, including the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. The new supporting technologies and production methods such as big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things began to be applied on a large scale. The exploration of smart manufacturing by Haier Group, Shenyang Machine Tool, and Qingdao Red Collar has yielded initial results. Huawei, Sany Heavy Industry, and China South Locomotive and other manufacturing companies in China have established international brands with leading technologies and global perspectives, and have steadily entered the mid-to-high end of the global industrial chain.

Taking full advantage of the achievements of the technological and information technology revolution, China's manufacturing industry is spurring new vitality and momentum and actively integrating itself into the global manufacturing competition with a new attitude.
